St. Pius X Catholic

“It was important for the design of the school to provide a welcoming and open environment where all could feel included.”

Greg Poste, Project Architect

The new school houses the communities of two schools that were closed.  It was important for the design of the school to provide a welcoming and open environment where all could feel included.  To accomplish this the front lobby, administration offices and learning resource centre are clustered together to the front of the school, and designed with floor to ceiling glazing to the main corridors creating a very open and transparent public area.

Entering through the main door you can see directly into the administration offices, principal’s office located right up front, staff work areas, learning resource centre, and high above to the second floor corridor through an interior window framed with a cruciform.  Bright vibrant paint colours and natural light flood the main entry and corridor creating a true sense of place.
