Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary

Beyond the now standard computer station area, The library is designed to be “device friendly” for learning in the digital age. It offers “ubiquitous access” and is wired so students can use their own mobile devices throughout.

Doug Snyder, Principal

Jean Vanier’s Library is a 200 meter square social space for independent and collaborative learning. Visible from the atrium and hallways with a large glass front, it’s open and accessible. As an important part of the learning experience, it is situated accordingly – in the middle of the school on the second floor of the three storey building.

The Library has stacks for research, a quiet study area, a lounge area and computer stations. It’s designed to be both relaxing and useful to small groups of students working together. To minimize disruptive noise, the acoustics strategy features carpet and acoustic ceiling tiles.
