Georgetown District High

“Overall, we were able to make better use of a public asset for community use.”

Avinash Garde, Principal

Like many of our projects, Georgetown benefitted greatly by engaging the community as a partner. Once construction started, it became clear that the school was going to be a valuable addition, not just to the academic experience of the students but also to the community. As we were mid-way through the construction, the Town got excited and proposed a public/private partnership to further develop the grounds and exterior sports programming.  A new fully functioning field with lights, artificial turf and bleachers was added, further extending the facilities that can be used by both by the school and the community.

We added a new special needs program to the school. This was not originally offered by the Board and families had to bus their children to other communities to receive the education they needed. This was a significant addition with benefits that not only local but affecting the wider region – and in doing so, we were able to make better use of a public asset for community use.
