“The school is sited in a very established neighbourhood, so the impact of the design had to consider the community it resides in. We made sure the school was designed for enhanced community use and is set up to accommodate and engage with residents.”

Avinash Garde, Principal

The school is sited in a very established neighbourhood, so the impact of the design had to consider the community it resides in.  There were many restrictions, requirements and suggestions placed on the project as it was a unique opportunity for the City to exert influence. The school was consequently designed for enhanced community use.

The layout design was configured to clearly articulate the academic from the public spaces, yet do so in a cohesive, welcoming way. A curved wall is a distinct design detail that delineates the areas of the school which are shared with the community, but can also be separated when needed to restrict access to either side.

Pedestrian pathways from the adjacent bocci court and community centre seamlessly link to the school’s atrium and the shared-use special program room. The site plan was configured so that the school parking can be shared with the community.
