One of the greatest challenges of construction was the poor soil conditions on the site and the depth required to find sufficient bearing capacity. The result is that the front of the school has a steel moment frame structure on grade beams while the technical and athletic wings are load bearing masonry due to better soil conditions in that location.

Some residents who were used to looking out at an open field were concerned with the development.  To address this concern, the view of the three-storey structure was mitigated by creating a berm by building up the land between the houses and the school and planting trees and shrubs to create the illusion of a much smaller building.
