Superior Heights Collegiate & Vocational

Alongside the field, we have created a major external waiting area that is also a vital social public space. It’s like a promenade that leads to the main entrance and separates the busses from the track and field.

Superior Heights is on an existing site which had some logistical challenges in terms of car movements and busses. A significant number of students have to be bussed to this school so we had to redevelop the site entirely to create a vehicular circulation system which is highly efficient yet simple and intuitive to use.  It is a dedicated, large, u-shaped bus route that does not require looping back into the same road system.

All along this path, alongside the field, we have created a major external waiting area that is also a vital social public space.  It’s like a promenade that leads to the main entrance and separates the busses from the track and field.  It can also be used as spectator assembly space before going into the track and field area.  Being thoughtful about the design of this important area facilitates those instances when you have visiting sports teams.
